For friends all around the world

Some covers...

Etes-vous plutôt....

Ou?

Siouxsie and the Banshees Photo #3

-Hall of Mirrors (Siouxsie and the Banshees)
-Paint it black (Mephisto Waltz)
-1969 (The Sisters of Mercy)
-Dancing Barefoot (The Mission)
-Behind the Wheel (Suspiria)
-Hendrix Medley (Soft cell)
-In heaven everything is fine  (Danse Society)
-Waiting for the Man (Bauhaus)
-Chidren of the Revolution (The Fast Set)
-Gun (Siouxsie)
-Sister Ray (Joy Division)

"Hall of Mirrors" by Siouxsie and the Banshees to open this last chapter of the second volume of Amnesia, chapter (as a rehash of the music feast in France) devoted to covers  made by the artists you've been now accustomed to cross for two years already -yes ...- during this modest and brilliant show.
Hence Siouxsie to open this show and the cover of a great Kraftwerk's song. This cover is taken from the album "Throught the Looking Glass",  appeared in 87.
Hence the question I will try to answer tonight "What's the point in recording a cover?".  Indeed, what can be the artistic interest of such an approach? In which case, rest assured, I will not talk about covers meant to put a new product on the market. But there are also bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees  or Simple Minds (and although they were often already known and recognized for the quality of their products) who have committed an entire album of covers. Was it for them a manner of reactiving bearing  inspiration? of reviving an international career in decline?
In fact, most of the titles covered are pieces that have received significant public  and critical success and often known to the largest number, like the playlist of this show will probably show you. This playlist is just above...
