"Israël"par Siouxsie and the Banshees (vous allez reconnaître la version capturée au Royal Albert Hall de Londres en 1983) pour ouvrir ce nouveau chapitre d’Amnesia, chapitre n°27 qui sera consacré aux projets parallèles d’artistes que nous avons pris l’habitude de croiser depuis deux saisons déjà -eh oui…- à l’occasion de cette émission modeste et géniale comme dirait l’autre. D’où Siouxsie en ouverture et un extrait de ce live, "Nocturne", en particulier puisque c’est  Robert Smith de Cure qui assure alors l’intérim à la guitare au sein des Banshees après que John Mc Geoch se soit mis en retrait du groupe (mais je vous renvoie, si vous souhaitez en savoir un peu plus, à l’émission consacrée à ce grand monsieur du postpunk:  A tribute to John Mc Geoch )

Je tiens par ailleurs à dédicacer cette émission au célèbre  "Little Punk Rocker" (salut Philou) qui va d ‘ailleurs nous annoncer les titres des morceaux que nous écouterons et dont voici la liste:

Welcome to the most obscure music of the 80's

"Israel" by Siouxsie and the Banshees (you'll recognize the version captured at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 1983) to open this new chapter of Amnesia, Chapter No. 27 which will be devoted to  some side projects of artists that we used to cross these last two seasons in this great and modest show. Hence Siouxsie as an opening,  more precisely an extract of the live, "Nocturne". This  because Robert Smith (from The Cure) replaced John Mc Geoch on the guitar after  the latter withdrew from the group (but I refer you, if you want to know more, to the show dedicated to this great man of postpunk: A tribute to John Mc Geoch ) 

I would also like to dedicate this show to the famous "Little Punk Rocker" (hello Philou) who will announce the titles of the songs we're going to hear and which are listed just above)

About Mark Burgess and The Chameleons

"Don't fall" pour ouvrir ce nouveau chapitre d’Amnesia, chapitre N°8 consacré, comme annoncé il y a déjà un certain temps de cela par leur titre "Soul in Isolation" des mêmes Chameleons à Mark Burgess, chanteur, auteur compositeur et bassiste anglais, connu principalement pour son rôle au sein de ce groupe aujourd’hui estampillé Postpunk.

Le groupe a vu le jour en 1981 à Middleton, au Nord de Manchester . Avant cela, chacun avait déjà joué dans une autre formation (Mark Burgess, par exemple, avec The Cliché). The Chameleons a rapidement attiré l’attention du célèbre DJ John Peel de Radio 1, lequel a alors proposé au combo de participer à plusieurs de ses émissions. Ainsi, la version de "Don’t fall" que nous avons écouté en ouverture est extraite  d’un enregistrement de 83 alors que le second titre de l'émission, "Looking Inwardly" date quant à lui d’une session de 81. C’est Brian Schoffield qui est a la batterie sur ce morceau. Il sera rapidement remplacé par John Lever, l’un de mes batteurs préférés sur la prériode, mais nous en reparlerons sans doute lors d'une autre émission...

"Don't fall" to open this new chapter of Amnesia , Chapter No. 8 devoted, as announced some time ago with their song " Soul in Isolation"  by the same Chameleons, to Mark Burgess, English singer, songwriter, composer and bassist, well known for his role in this group today stamped Postpunk .

The band was born in 1981 in Middleton , north of Manchester. Before that, everyone had already played in another formation ( Mark Burgess, for example, with The Cliché ) . The Chameleons quickly attracted the attention of famous Radio1 DJ John Peel, who  proposed them to participate in many of its programs. Thus , the version of "Do not fall" we listened in opening is from a  83 record while the second title of the show , "Looking Inwardly" dates from a 

81 

recording  . This is Brian Schoffield the drummer in this song . He will be quickly replaced by John Lever, one of my favorite ones of this period , but we'll probably devote another show to this musician.
