A second gift: Alice in Postpunkland

"The Caterpillar" (ou "La chenille" en V.F.) par The Cure pour ouvrir cette émission spéciale concoctée par mon frère grec, Ghostsent (également DJ sur XWave Radio), diffusée une première fois dans son émission de postpunk sur radio Syxnotita (voir liens), et consacrée au personnage d'Alice et plus généralement aux divers thèmes traités par Lewis Carroll dans son oeuvre. Ces thèmes ont ensuite été souvent repris et exploités par nombre de groupes que nous avons l'habitude de rencontrer, aussi, dans Amnesia: Siouxsie and the Banshees, Little Nemo, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Sisters of Mercy, Kraftwerk....

Le registre, certes, sera plus proche de celui travaillé par l'orfèvre Tim Burton que de celui de la première adaptation de Walt Disney. On se trouve en effet de l'autre côté du miroir et le voyage proposé est un voyage dans l'inconscient: le pays des merveilles est devenu sombre et inquiétant...

Mais saurez-vous résister à l'envie d'imaginer Andrew Eldricht en Chapelier ou les frères Reid en Tweedle-Dum et Tweedle-Dee? Robert Smith dans le rôle du Chat de Cheshire ou Jim Kerr dans celui du Lièvre de Mars?

"The Caterpillar " by The Cure to open this special show concocted by my Greek brother, Ghostsent (also DJ on XWave radio), broadcasted for the first time in his own postpunk show on Syxnotita  radio (see links) , and dedicated to the character of Alice and more generally to various themes used by Lewis Carroll in his work. These themes were then often picked and used by many bands we often met, too, on Amnesia: Siouxsie and the Banshees , Little Nemo, Jesus and Mary Chain , The Sisters of Mercy , Kraftwerk ....

The registry will certainly be closer to the one of Tim Burton as to the one of the first adaptation by Walt Disney. We are indeed on the other side of the mirror and the proposed journey is a journey into the unconscious: wonderland becomes dark and disturbing ...

But will you resist the urge to imagine Andrew Eldricht as the Hatter or Reid brothers as Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dee ? Robert Smith in the role of the Cheshire Cat and Jim Kerr in the one of the March Hare?
