"Amnesia 3 (cut out)" by S-H-M

Dans la série "Je résiste à tout sauf à la tentation..." - une manière, aussi, de remercier mon ami Mike-  je vous propose en écoute le morceau d'ouverture du dernier album en date du projet minimal wave allemand S-H-M. 

Avec Sequences (titre de cet album), le musicien allemand atteint à mon sens  une forme de maturité dans son art. Puisant à mon vis son inspiration dans son parcours artistique (j'ai en effet le plaisir de le suivre depuis quelques années, et certains titres renvoient en effet à ses productions antérieures) cet album, loin d'être une sorte de testament, m'apparaît davantage comme le premier pas vers une forme expression plus aboutie. 

Les sons employés pour (r)éveiller chez l'auditeur attentif tel souvenir et, donc, tel sentiment apparaissent plus en rapport avec une mélodie paradoxalement plus resserrée et plus expressive.  Ils travaillent de concert et sans qu'aucune fioriture soit désormais nécessaire. On obtient ainsi cette forme de new wave épurée que Véronica Vasicka (fondatrice du label Minimal Wave lien vers la première émission consacrée à ce genre musical) appelait de ses voeux.

D'où le fait que votre humble serviteur se sente d'autant plus honoré d'avoir "collaboré" à cet album, ainsi que vous vous en rendrez compte lors de l'écoute du morceau ci-dessous. Merci encore, Mike, et à bientôt pour de nouvelles aventures, radiophoniques et/ou musicales.

"I can resist everything except temptation ..." - the way I choose to thank my friend Mike- I suggest you to listen to the opening track of the latest album by the minimal german project SHM.

With Sequences (title of this album), this German musician reached in my view a form of maturity in his art. Drawing (according to me) his inspiration from his artistic carrer (I followed him during the last few years, and some titles refer in fact to his previous productions), this album, far from being a sort of testament, appears more as the first step towards a fullest form of expression.

The sounds used to wake up the attentive listener to such a souvenir and, then, to such a feeling, appear more related to  -maybe paradoxically- a tighter and expressive melody. They really work together and without any unnecessary frills. This gives this very purified new wave that Veronica Vasicka (founder of the Minimal Wave label, please see link to the first show devoted to this musical genre)) whished for.

Hence the fact that your faithfull servant feels particulary honored to have "collaborated" with this album, as you will consider listenning to the song just above. Thank you again, Mike and see you soon for new radio or musical adventures. Best wishes.

Just another great and minimal show

"A Means to an End" par Bakterielle Infektion en ouverture de ce nouveau chapitre d’Amnesia, chapitre 15 du second Tome que, pour des raisons diverses et variées, mais toutes manquant de charme et d’érotisme (érotisme dont il sera cependant question prochainement), je n’ai pas eu le temps de beaucoup travailler. Pas de thématique particulière durant cette émission mais, je l’espère, l’occasion pour vous de quelques découvertes musicales, en ce sens que j’ai pour l’occasion puisé mon inspiration dans la très belle série de compilations de notre ami Mike de S-H-M, série qui, au fur et à mesure des quelques cent cds qui la compose, m’a été l’occasion de découvrir un certain nombre de petites perles de minimale wave, autant de titres que je souhaite donc partager avec vous ce soir.

La playlist, enfin, sera organisée en deux temps : une première moitié de titres electro et une seconde de morceaux dans la composition desquelles se sont subrepticement glissés des instruments plus traditionnels (guitare et basse en particulier).

"A Means to an End" by Bakterielle Infektion to open this new chapter of Amnesia, chapter number 15 of the second volume that I didn't really have the time to work (for varied and diverse reasons, but all of them lacking charm and eroticism (eroticism it will however be  talked about during the next show)). No particular theme during this show but, I hope, the opportunity for you to discover some rare music, in the sense that I have found my inspiration in the beautiful series of compilations of our friend Mike (of the SHM project), series of more than an hundred cds.  Thanks to them I had the chance to discover a number of small beads of minimal wave, many  songs  I want to share with you. 

The playlist will finally be organized in two phases: a first half with electro tracks, 

and a second with 

more "traditional" instruments (guitar and bass in particular) taking part in the composition.

A second Minimal show

"Moscu esta helado" par Elsplendor Geometrico pour ouvrir ce nouveau chapitre d’Amnesia. Ce Chapitre n°3 du Tome 2 sera consacré, comme annoncé la semaine dernière par «Ceramic Hello» et grâce au travail d’orfèvre réalisé par notre ami Mike de S-H-M (auquel nous devons aussi le générique de cette émission) sur la série de compilations qu’il a créé  et sobrement intitulée  Minimal», à la Minimal Wave. Cette  série de compilations a été créée à partir de sa collection personnelle et ce à destination de quelques rares initiés seulement, dont votre serviteur. 

Ce troisième chapitre (pour cette année) sera alors l’occasion d’en apprendre un peu plus sur ce genre musical après l’émission de l’année dernière (laquelle émission est d'ailleurs téléchargeable sur ce même blog à partir du lien suivant: Amnesia - T1 - A first Minimal show )

Thanks to Mike SHM who created a set of compilations soberly titled "Minimal" from his own personal collection and sent it to a privileged few.

La première émission de l'année 2012-2013 -le premier chapitre du second tome de nos aventures - ayant été égaré (personne n'est parfait..) je poste à la place une émission musicale qui pourra servir aussi bien de "résumé des épisodes précédents" que d'annonce concernant ce à quoi il faudra vous attendre pour l'année à venir.... I post instead a musical program that will serve both as "a summary of the previous episodes " and as an announcement about what you will have to wait for the coming year .... A first minimal show

« Who's Really Listening » par Mark Lane,  extrait de la compilation « The Minimal Wave Tapes: Volume One », pour ouvrir ce nouveau chapitre d’Amnesia, chaptire n°20 consacré, comme annoncé la semaine dernière par S-H-M, à la Minimale Wave en tant que mouvement ou tout du moins appellation pour un genre musical. Cela nous amènera donc à parler également du label éponyme créé par Veronika Vasicka pour promouvoir ce genre. Pour concevoir la playlist de cette émission, je me suis inspiré des principales compilations éditées par ledit label (cf liens)  et la discographie de S-H-M (cf liens aussi...) nous servira par ailleurs de fil conducteur. J’ai également trouvé nombre de précieux renseignements dans une  interview de Veronika, interview parue en Août 2010 sur le site web Hartzine.

Le terme de « Minimal wave » est apparu il y a peu de temps et touche à ce qu’on référençait précédemment sous les termes de Synthpop, Techno pop, ou Minimal Electronic, et ce essentiellement selon l’année de production ou l’origine géographique des groupes. Ceux-ci enregistraient alors  leur musique sur cassette ou vinyle qu’ils distribuaient souvent eux-mêmes et leur musique était faite avec des synthés et des boîtes à rythme et restait fidèle aux sons artificiels au lieu de tenter de les faire disparaître. Selon Veronika, en effet,  « ces groupes n’ont jamais essayé d’utiliser les synthés afin d’imiter les groupes pop mainstream de cette période. Cependant il est vrai que certaines structures de chansons sont similaires à celles de la pop. On obtient ainsi une new wave très épurée», ainsi que les titres qui suivent vont sans doute vous le faire entendre.

"Who's Really Listening" by Mark Lane, from the compilation "The Minimal Wave Tapes: Volume One," to open this new chapter of Amnesia, Chapter No. 20 devoted to, as announced last week by SHM, to Minimal Wave as a movement, or at least, as a genre. This therefore leads us to speak also about the eponymous label created by Veronika Vasicka to promote this genre. To build the playlist of this show, I was inspired by the major label compilations edited by this label (see links) and the discography of SHM (see also links ...) will also serve as a clue. I also found many valuable informations in an interview by Veronika, interview published in August 2010 on the website Hartzine.

The term "Minimal Wave" appeared only few times ago and concerns songs that we previously referenced under the terms of Synthpop, Techno Pop, Minimal and Electronic, essentially according to the year of production or geographical origin of the bands. Those bands  recorded their music on cassette or vinyl that  they often distributed themselves and their music was made ​​with synths and drum machines, and remained faithful to artificial sounds rather than trying to make them disappear. According to Veronika, actually, "These bands have never tried to use synths to imitate the mainstream pop groups of the period. However, it is true that some song structures are similar to those of pop. This gives a very  purified new wave "as the following titles will maybe let you hear.
