"New Gold Dream", par Simple Minds, pour
ouvrir ce nouveau chapitre d’Amnesia - Chapitre 4 du troisième Tome de nos
aventures - qui, comme annoncé la semaine dernière par leur titre «I travel»,
extrait du même album "Empire and Dance", sera réalisé en
collaboration avec le docte professeur Tagueule du site Wavelength (voir liens) et consacré
à la New Pop. Et ce afin de faire
(enfin !.. diront certains) la distinction avec la New Wave au sens
strict du terme, genre musical dont nous avons donc parlé lors de la dernière émission, ainsi qu’avec le postpunk, toujours au sens originel du terme.
Le terme de New Pop
a été utilisé pour la première fois par le critique musical Paul Morley
dans un article du New Musical Express paru en 1981 pour désigner ces groupes
post-postpunk désireux (je cite) "de briller dans l’overground –par
opposition, sans doute, à l’underground- de combattre pour un retour de la vie
sur les ondes radio, de donner au single l’importance qui lui revenait, de
pouvoir toucher leur public naturel. Ils n’acceptent plus de se voir relégués
dans un coin poussiéreux. Ils veulent apparaître en tête de gondole dans les
supermarchés, pas en haut d’une étagère chez le disquaire du coin". Fin de

"New Gold Dream", by Simple Minds, to open this new chapter of Amnesia - Chapter 4 of the third Volume of our adventures - which, as announced last week by the title "I travel," from the same album, "Empire and Dance", will be realized in collaboration with the great professor Tagueule, from the Wavelength site (see links) and devoted to New Pop. In order (finally! .. some say) to do the distinction with New Wave in the strict sense, genre we spoke of during the last show, and with Post-punk also, still in the original sense of term.
The term New Pop was used for the first time by musical critic Paul Morley (in an article for the New Musical Express and published in 1981) to designate these post-post-punk groups interested in shining in the overground -in opposition, certainly, to the underground- to fight for a return of life on the radio, to give to single the importance it deserved, and to touch their natural audience. They didn't want to be relegated to dusty corners anymore. They wanted to appear in supermarkets. This is an ambitious programme, for sure, as the playlist of this show will certainly show you.
