A Tribute to The Neon Judgement

"Schizophrenic Freedy"  pour ouvrir ce nouveau chapitre d’Amnesia, Chapitre N°4 du second Tome  consacré, comme annoncé durant la dernière émission avec leur titre « Too cold to breathe » au groupe belge The Neon Judgement. La Belgique a toujours été, de par sa situation géographique, un melting-pot de cultures et d’influences différentes et, du fait de son histoire, un pays à la situation politique toujours un peu chaotique. Cela semble toutefois constituer un terreau favorable à l’expression artistique. La preuve par l’exemple (du moins je l’espère) aujourd’hui.

 «Le temps peut avoir un effet étrange sur la musique. Il met en perspective certains aspects et rend les autres licenciés. Ce qui est important dans un premier temps n'a plus d'importance au fil des ans, tandis que les détails superficiels semblent devenir plus précieux». Voilà par quelles phrases s’ouvre la page consacrée à la biographie du duo sur son site officiel, phrases qui résument bien sa trajectoire, ainsi que la playlist de l'émission va essayer de le prouver.

"Schizophrenic Freedy " to open this new chapter of Amnesia , Chapter N°4 of the second Season devoted , as announced in the last post by their track " Too cold to breathe "  to the Belgian band The Neon Judgement . Belgium has always been, probably because of its geographical location , a melting pot of different cultures and influences and , because of its history, a country with a political situation still a bit chaotic . Nevertheless this seems to be a favorable breeding ground for artistic expression . 

"Time can have a strange effect on music. It puts certain aspects in perspective and makes others redundant. Things  important at first, no longer matter over the years, while superficial details seem to become more valuable." Those are the sentences opening the page devoted to the biography of the duo on its official website, sentences that summarize its trajectory, as the playlist of the show will try to prove today....

Un titre du groupe qui sera interviewé dans l'émission de ce mardi 05/11.

L'émission sera en effet consacrée au groupe coldwave "Lyncelia", groupe rare, dont l'honnêteté se retrouve dans ce que sa musique propose à chacun un retour sur soi, une véritable réflexion donc sur nos parcours, nos rêves et nos errances (ces différents termes n’étant alors en rien péjoratifs, au contraire..).

Pour les curieux et les vrais amateurs de musique, celle qui dérange et questionne, rendez-vous ce mardi 05/11 de 21 à 22h sur C'rock radio (http://www.crockradio.com/ ) et/ou sur le blog de l'émission.

A second Minimal show

"Moscu esta helado" par Elsplendor Geometrico pour ouvrir ce nouveau chapitre d’Amnesia. Ce Chapitre n°3 du Tome 2 sera consacré, comme annoncé la semaine dernière par «Ceramic Hello» et grâce au travail d’orfèvre réalisé par notre ami Mike de S-H-M (auquel nous devons aussi le générique de cette émission) sur la série de compilations qu’il a créé  et sobrement intitulée  Minimal», à la Minimal Wave. Cette  série de compilations a été créée à partir de sa collection personnelle et ce à destination de quelques rares initiés seulement, dont votre serviteur. 

Ce troisième chapitre (pour cette année) sera alors l’occasion d’en apprendre un peu plus sur ce genre musical après l’émission de l’année dernière (laquelle émission est d'ailleurs téléchargeable sur ce même blog à partir du lien suivant: Amnesia - T1 - A first Minimal show )

"Moscu esta helado" by Elsplendor Geometrico to open this new chapter of Amnesia. This Chapter 3 of Volume 2 will be devoted, as announced last week by "Ceramic Hello", to the Minimal Wave. Thanks to Mike SHM who created a set of compilations soberly titled "Minimal" from his own personal collection and sent it to a privileged few.
The third chapter (for this year) will be the opportunity to learn a little more about this kind of music after last year's show  (which show is downloadable too from this blog from the following link: Amnesia - T1 - A first Minimal show)

Robert Smith: from Postpunk to Coldwave

"Three imaginary boys" par The Cure pour ouvrir ce nouveau chapitre d’Amnesia, chapitre consacré, comme annoncé sur le dernier post par le titre « All Cats are grey » des mêmes The Cure à Robert Smith et plus précisément aux compositions de ce grand monsieur de la musique sombre des années 80 ayant oscillé entre ses périodes Postpunk et Coldwave. Mais commençons par un petit retour en arrière….

le second titre de l'émission, "I want to be old", est en effet extrait des démos enregistées par le groupe Easy Cure en 77. Année fatidique… Après une première formation nommée The Obelisk et comptant déjà parmi ses membres Michael Dempsey et Laurence Tolhurst, Robert Smith  fonda Malice en 76, groupe dont il était l’un des guitaristes. En 77, donc, le groupe change de nom et devient Easy Cure, Smith assurant également désormais le rôle de chanteur. Ce titre, même s’il contient déjà en germes (je sais, c’est facile de le dire à posteriori, mais j’aurai des arguments à faire valoir…) ce qui fera le succès de Cure, est également le reflet de ce qui pouvait se composer et se produire à cette époque.

"Three imaginary boys" by The Cure to open this new chapter of Amnesia , chapter  devoted - as announced on the last post by the "All Cats are gray ," another song by The Cure -  to Robert Smith and more precisely to the compositions of this great man of the dark 80s between Postpunk and Coldwave . But first a little background ....

The second title of the show, " I want to be old ," is indeed a song from the demos recorded by Easy Cure in 1977. An amazing year for our music ... After a first formation called The Obelisk and already counting among its members Michael Dempsey and Laurence Tolhurst , Robert Smith founded Malice in 76, a band he belonged as a guitarist . In 77, the band changed its name to Easy Cure, Smith was now the lead singer . As such, even if it already contains the germs (I know, it's easy to tell hindsight, but I'll have some evidence to give ... ) that will make  the success of Cure, it is also a reflection of what one could compose in those years.

Back to the (no) futur

La première émission de l'année 2012-2013 -le premier chapitre du second tome de nos aventures - ayant été égaré (personne n'est parfait..) je poste à la place une émission musicale qui pourra servir aussi bien de "résumé des épisodes précédents" que d'annonce concernant ce à quoi il faudra vous attendre pour l'année à venir.... Compte-tenu des difficultés grandissantes rencontrées pour télécharger les émissions (du moins jusqu'à celle consacrée à Joy Division) à partir du second hébergeur que j'avais choisi lors de la création de ce blog (le temps passe bien vite...), je me vois obligé d'en choisir un autre. Je posterai donc peu à peu de nouveaux liens pour télécharger les anciennes émissions, et commencerai par les premières postées. Ces nouveaux liens porteront un nom du type "Amnesia - T1 - Chap.1 (ok!)" etc...

About some guitar's bands

(The Jesus and Mary Chains)

"Sidewalking", par Jesus and Mary Chains, pour ouvrir ce nouveau chapitre d’Amnesia, chapitre n°27 consacré, comme annoncé la semaine dernière par les mêmes Jesus and Mary Chain, à des groupes à propos desquels Dominique Dupuis dit (dans l’album New Waves Vinyls) qu’ils sont là pour sauver le rock des années 80, ainsi qu’à certains parmi leurs plus dignes successeurs.

La playlist de cette émission, modeste et géniale, sera donc organisée autour de quatre formations qui ont eu l’excellente idée de ne pas mettre les guitares au clou, à savoir Jesus and the Mary Chains et The Smiths pour nos pauvres années 80, et Ceremony pour la transition avec aujourd’hui. L’émission sera par ailleurs l’occasion de faire plus ample connaissance avec un talentueux groupe parisien formé en 96 et encore en activité aujourd’hui, je veux parler d’Electric Press Kit (cf liens).

"Sidewalking" by The Jesus and Mary Chain to open this new chapter of Amnesia, Chapter No.27 devoted, as announced last week, to those bands about which Dominique Dupuis said (in New Waves Vinyls) that they are here to save the rock of the 80s, and to some of their most worthy successors.

Then, the playlist of this modest and brilliant show will be organized around four teams who had the good idea not to put the guitars of, namely Jesus and the Mary Chains and The Smiths for our poor 80s, and Ceremony for the transition with today. The show will also be the opportunity to get acquainted with a talented group formed in Paris in 96 and still active today, I want to talk about Electric Press Kit (see links).
